Autumn Pioneer Mountains
I didn't notice Florian's Nudl until I took a closer look at this photo. Duncan Ridge, Cobb Peak, Hyndman Peak, the Nudl, and Old Hyndman, with Elaine's Lookout and Jaqueline in the foreground. From the summit of Grays Peak.
Paymaster Gulch lies across the canyon below with spectacular views of The Paymaster, Cobb, Old Hyndman, Jaqueline, McIntire, and Elaine's Lookout.

A broader view looking north out of Big Basin to see the south flank of Cobb Peak and Old Hyndman.

Moonbreak at Pioneer Cabin
The full equinox/Easter moon breaks over the Old Hyndman and Cobb Peak ridgeline whil light glows from Pioneer Cabin.
As I run out of light on the trail, I notice Cobb behind me. Time to go home. Veteran's Day, 11.11.2013.
The alpenglow develops in the dusk.
The alpenglow develops as we make our way down.
And down we go. Sigh.
It's hard to imagine climbing Old Hyndman and Cobb sometimes, but I'm proud to say I've been to the top of these bad boys. Before I was 20.
Not the summit, but end of the line for this Veteran's Day trip: 10,860'
Terry always seems happiest in the Pioneer Range. I can't say I blame him.
Terry quickly catches up. Grays Peak is off in the distance to the south, with Cobb dominating the southeast view.
Terry decides to wait for me and have a bite to eat. I take the opportunity to pass him up, since that seldom happens.
It's a nice vantage point for the Pioneer Triumvirate along with the basin.
Once the ridge is gained, we have specatular views of Hyndman Basin. I notice a landmark directly below the north face of Cobb. It looks like a stone sarcophagus...see it?
The west shoulder of Cobb with its icycles stand in front of Old Hyndman.
The so-familiar sight of Cobb Peak on the Hyndman Creek trail.
This is the reward. An amazing panorama of Duncan Ridge, the Pioneer Triumvirate, and Hyndman Basin.
I nice vantage point of Cobb showing the icefall on the right flank. Tom and I climbed Cobb on a route very much centered in this picture up one of the steep gullies to the ridgeline, then to the top.
Old Hyndman is just visible through the clouds as they descend into the basin.
A panoramic shot of Duncan Ridge, Hyndman Peak, and Cobb Peak from Dry Lake and the Pioneer Yurt.
A zoomed in shot of the Comma Couliour on the face of Cobb. I thought I'd seen skiiers, but was mistaken. The climbing route is the left skyline ridge.
